FREE LAGUARDIA LINK Q70 BUS SERVICE OVER PRESIDENTS DAY WEEKEND THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY AND DISCOUNTED PARKING AT LONG-TERM LOT (P10)
Free LaGuardia Link Q70 service provides convenient connection to New York City Subway and Long Island Railroad; Discounted $18 price at long-term P10 lot and traffic mitigation plans to assist passengers, including free parking in Cell Phone Lot P5 for passenger pick-up
Relocated taxi stand and for-hire vehicle pick up areas will create streamlined process
The Port Authority announced today steps to alleviate roadway congestion during the peak travel period over the Presidents Day holiday weekend. In partnership with the MTA, the LaGuardia Link Q70 buses will be free from Thursday, February 16 at 12:01 a.m. through Tuesday, February 21 at 11:59 p.m. The LaGuardia Link provides non-stop service linking the main terminals of the airport (Terminals B, C and D) with New York City Subway and Long Island Railroad transit hubs in Jackson Heights and Woodside, Queens.
The Port Authority is also encouraging travelers who arrive at the airport by car to park in the Long-Term Lot (P10) for $18 a day. Drivers should enter the lot via the LaGuardia Airport entrance at the 82nd Street Bridge; and not use the 94th Street Bridge. Daily and hourly lots adjacent to the terminals are expected to fill quickly, have limited availability and are $59 a day. Also, drivers seeking to meet arriving passengers can park for free for up to three hours in the Cell Phone Lot (Lot P5) near Terminal D.
With nearly 300,000 passengers expected to use LaGuardia this Saturday, Sunday and Monday alone, a comprehensive Port Authority traffic management plan has been developed in partnership with Sam Schwartz Engineering to meet higher-than-normal traveler demand. A key element will be the six free days of the MTA’s Q70 Select Bus Service, which provides non-stop service linking the main terminals of the airport (Terminals B, C and D) with New York City Subway and Long Island Railroad transit hubs in Jackson Heights and Woodside, Queens.
The Port Authority is committed to providing the region with a brand new LaGuardia Airport, while maintaining airport operations. Plans are in place to ease roadway congestion and facilitate improved passenger movement during construction.
At Terminal B, new ground transfer locations are in effect. The taxi stand has been relocated to the west end of the terminal to allow easier off-airport access. In addition, for-hire vehicles such as Uber, Lyft, Via, Get and private car services will pick up in front of the terminal on the arrivals level.
NYC Airporter buses are picking up and dropping off passengers from the outer roadway on the Arrivals level instead of the west end of the terminal.
Travelers to the airport are advised to check with their carriers in advance to ensure flights are departing on schedule. In addition, they should:
· Allow an extra 90 minutes to get to the airport.
Make public transportation the first choice. In addition to the free Q70, the MTA’s M60 bus provides service between the airport and 125th Street, Manhattan with connections to Metro North and the 4,5 and 6 subway trains, as well as the A, B, C and D.
Consider car, van and shared ride services instead of single occupancy vehicles.
Follow consolidated pick up and drop off procedures for rental car services.
