Placing Business and Community in the Same Flight Plan
Just in time for the summer travel season, new customer service improvements have been launched at Kennedy International, Newark Liberty International and LaGuardia to make air travel easier and more pleasant.
Travelers with questions about transportation or hotel accommodations can receive assistance from more than 400 Customer Care Representatives, an increase of about 20 percent over previous staffing levels, known by their distinctive red jackets. A total of 27 different languages are spoken by the agents who staff Welcome Centers, and will now be available at checkpoint entry and exit areas, and AirTrain JFK station platforms.
Among the new initiatives will be one of the most requested customer service improvements, cleaner restrooms, and installation of more than 100 additional power poles, popular for charging electronic devices, which will be available throughout the terminals at all three airports.
Another customer enhancement initiative recently launched at the Port Authority’s airports is a smart phone app from FlySmart for the three major airports and Stewart International that offers airport information and real-time flight notifications to iPhone, Android and Blackberry users. The free app features listings for ground transportation and concessions, as well as maps of the terminals
A multimillion dollar modernization project has transformed the airport’s Terminal B into a multilevel facility complete with new check-in areas and ticket counters and expanded security checkpoints.
International departures at the terminal now operate on the upper level, international arrivals and domestic departures share the mid level, and domestic arrivals and baggage claim are located on the lower level. Passengers can follow new roadway and terminal signage to specific terminal levels and services.
Also new at Terminal B is British Airways’ Galleries Lounge – twice the size of the previous lounge and relocated near the airline’s new home at gates B50-58. Only steps from security, the new lounge reduces walking time and provides comfortable seating for up to 177 customers with panoramic views over the airfield. The stylish lounge offers dedicated dining areas, private dining booths and two Silver Bars.
